Our trip started off great with some naps in the car and a play/shop/eat stop at IKEA just outside of Chicago. Then it went down-hill fast. In a nutshell, we spent 3 hours stuck in stop and go traffic trying to get through Chicago with one unhappy crying baby. WOW! There must be no greater test to parenthood (just kidding). Once we made it into Indiana a car accident that backed up traffic again solidified that we were not making our hotel destination in Toledo, OH. So Anna, being the savvy traveler she is, quickly changed our reservations to South Bend, IN and we all got a break from a dreadful day on the road. For the most part Kiefer did fantastic for the rest of the trip. With some good parent partnering (20% Brad / 80% Anna) and numerous stops at waysides and rest areas the little guy made it just fine.
Arriving at grandma and grandpas house in Pennsylvania we walked into what the holidays are all about. Wonderful smells of a Thanksgiving dinner filled the house and so did the excitement of reuniting with the other 7 grand kids, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 brother in-law, 2 sister in-laws, and of course Grandma and Grandpa. Kiefer finally got to meet the rest of his aunts, uncles and cousins all at once. He did not know what he was in for!

Even though Grandma had a bad cold during the Holiday, Kiefer got the chance to play some peak-a-boo with her and have some laughs.
