Kiefer had made many attempts at walking by taking just a few steps before dropping to his knees for the "safer" crawl. One move he picked up quickly was how to position himself for traveling up and down steps with the least bit of effort. Watch as he confidently travels down the steps in his aerodynamic monkey PJ's:
During the packing of our house many things disappeared but Kiefer kept busy with his toys and continued practicing his short walks, but still relied on his fast crawl to get around. Here he tries to play with a pinwheel that he picked up at Lisa and Percy's wedding. One of his favorite things but he still can't make it spin with his mouth even when kissing it!
After moving to our new home in the country, Kiefer was walking almost the length of any room. He quickly began practicing turning and stepping over carpet, wood floor and tile thresholds. He seemed to drop to his knees or bottom on his own accord, instead of losing balance or tripping. Here is a Kiefer with Grandpa Dave at our new house. Notice the mosquito bite on his upper cheek, near his right eye! We have discovered that he does not react very well to insect bites!
