Many of you closest to us know that we use cloth diapers, and we love them. The Bumgenius 3.0 (sounds like sophisticated software, doesn't it?) has served us well. For a few hundred dollars, we purchased 22 cloth diapers that can be adjusted to fit Kiefer as he grows. They launder beautifully (especially when line dried), and Kiefer appears to think they are very comfortable. And now, they come in more fashionable colors than the pastels Kiefer has. Oh well...
But, for those who may not be willing to go cloth (we understand there are some unappealing aspects), there is a neat compromise. The 'g diaper'.
They are the cutest things I've ever seen (see below). Here's the skinny: There is a breathable cloth shell and a liner that you launder once they are soiled (you get 4-5 uses out of the outer shell, and a few less out of the liner if the diaper is messy), and a DISPOSABLE inner liner. So you get rid of the mess immediately. And the beauty of these disposable liners is that they are made with wood pulp, so they are flushable. If you are afraid your toilet can't handle it, you can still just toss them, feeling good that they will decompose rapidly (compared with traditional disposables.)
And did I mention that they are adorable? They come in all sorts of cute colors. We use the g diaper when we travel and don't have access to laundry, or if we run out of cloth diapers before the laundry is finished.
